Thoughtful Thursday - Today’s the Day!

Today’s the day we drop her off at college. Jeep is almost packed. I started loading it last night, but now we need to put on the roof carrier and finish the job. It’s packed and I’ll try to get a picture later of her with all her things.

Hopefully it will all fit into her dorm room!

So, today’s post will be short since I have to head off for a last minute check of everything to make sure we’re not leaving anything at home.

Wish me luck.

Tuesday Tip - Becoming an M&M

sad.gifIt’s a dreary day here in NYC. My daughter is headed off to college in two days. TWO DAYS!!! Nope, I am handling it. I told myself I would not cry when I dropped her off because I do not want to ruin her exciting new adventure.

But, I did need a pick me on account of all those things. Maybe you do as well, or maybe you are just tired of your online avatar or your website picture. Kim at the Romance Novel Television message boards (she’s the best! I got to meet her at RWA) gave us a secret site that was sure to cheer us all up and eliminate website picture/avatar boredeom. Guilty Pleasures Monday - Clive Owen

Clive Owen Courtesy of http://www.girl.com.auMy daughter and I were watching television together and a commercial came on. I hear her say, “He’s hot” and think, “Yes, he is.” I guess it goes to prove that rugged handsome men still reach across all age groups. Read the rest of this entry

Thoughtful Thursday - Remember Me

A few weeks ago I made my shoebox for Operation Shoebox and dropped it off. I hope whichever GI got it is enjoying the goodies I put inside.

This video hit the news a few weeks ago as well, which really lit a fire under my butt to go through with my plans to help our GIs and not forget them. Forget their sacrifices.

So this video is about our GIs. The sacrifices they make. Please think about them and do something, even if it’s just filling up a shoebox care package. If you want to consider what else you can do, please visit the America Supports You site, where you can find other ways to help out.

This is a long video, but don’t cut away until it’s done. And make sure you’ve got your hankies ready.

Wicked Wednesday - Crazy for the Cat

MOON FEVER, October 2007I am in awe of being in an anthology with Susan Sizemore, Maggie Shayne and Lori Handeland in October. The anthology is titled MOON FEVER and my story is called Crazy for the Cat. It’s a story about an ethnobotanist and an Amazon river guide. I loved setting it in such an exotic place and also, getting out some messages about the environment as well. It’s a fast-paced story, filled with adventure and also, some steam (and I’m not talking about jungle kind of heat!). Read the rest of this entry

Guilty Pleasures Monday - Daniel from All American Guys

This is a tough job searching out handsome men for you for our Guilty Pleasures Mondays. Really difficult work. I mean, having to decide which of these men I should feature. LOL.

Well, it seems as if my job just got easier since I ran across some videos which led me to www.allamericanguys.com. Whew and WOW! This is male muscle at its finest. You can even send postcards to your friends (like me!) Read the rest of this entry

Fashion Friday - Gellies!

We are in the midst of college shopping and my daughter has been wonderful! Using a great checklist from Target (gotta love ‘em) she’s acquired many of the things that she needs to set up her college dorm room.

Totally cool and totally affordableOf course, there are the other things as well — like a new pair of Vertigo jeans from PacSun (on sale as well since she’s a great bargain hunter) and some Gellies from FiveBelow! Read the rest of this entry

Thoughtful Thursday - Booksellers that Care

There’s nothing better than booksellers that care about authors and take the time to introduce those authors to their patrons. I think of booksellers as the infantry in the publishing world. They’re the ones who are out there in the trenches, providing the support that you need to survive as a writer. Read the rest of this entry

Wicked Wednesday - FATE CALLS from Holiday with a Vampire

Today’s Wicked Wednesday is about the ultimate Scrooge — Hadrian, a two-thousand year old vampire who finds himself with a bell-ringing Santa on the steps of his Manhattan brownstone.

Christmas with a vampire? Well, I was a little surprised as well when my editor called with the idea for this anthology, but the more I thought about it, the more that it fascinated me. I could pit the darkness of the vampire against Santa and all the goodness and light of the Christmas holiday! And as dark and dangerous as Hadrian is, beneath all that was a soul aching to be reached. It was just going to take someone really special. Enter Connie Morales, tough NYC lawyer who has volunteered to play Santa to earn some brownie points with her boss. Read the rest of this entry

Tuesday Tip - Trading Blogs

Blogging is a brave new world and today we are trying something different — a blog swap! Trading blogs or blog tours are one of the great ways that authors can get the word out about their work, so if you haven’t tried it, that’s my Tuesday Tip for you about promoting on the web.

So here’s a little something from friend and fellow author, Sasha Tomaszycki who together with Patrizia M.J. Hayashi writes as Gabriella Hewitt. Read the rest of this entry

Thoughtful Thursday - Working Vacations

Working vacations. An oxymoron if ever there was one, but for me, vacations are a blessing in so many ways.

Obviously there’s the spending time with family, relaxation and discovering something new factor.

Then there’s the — they don’t get up for hours and I can outlast them factor — which means I get hours and hours of writing done. This vacation, I finished FURY CALLS, the next book in THE CALLING series and also fleshed out some ideas for future books. Read the rest of this entry

Wicked Wednesday - Sex after 40

SOUTH BEACH CHICAS CATCH THEIR MAN, Available September 2007 from Downtown PressIt got ugly last night. Besides the Mets bullpen blowing Tom Glavine’s 300th career win, I had the Secret Agents squaring off against Sylvia and her South Beach Chicas for who would get today’s Wicked Wednesday spotlight. Like I said, Ugly. Dani and Mitch can kick major ass, but Sylvia is quite determined as you’ll discover in SOUTH BEACH CHICAS CATCH HER MAN which will be out in September.

So who won? Read the rest of this entry
