So true. It's tough to keep everything in order. I finally had to create the website for THE CALLING where I detailed everything for not only the fans, but for myself! LOL!

It is an awful lot of work. For THE CALLING, there's a complete mythology that I had to write down and stick to. When I needed to expand it, I had to do it in a way that didn't alter the earlier mythos I had created.

Another good author to look at is Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels. She has a different planet than earth, with two suns (If I remember correctly - maybe it's moons) the sun is a red dwarf so the predominant color is a red sky. The weather has it's own personality and the residents are all manner of humanoid and other more animalistic species.

World building and the whole maintenance of mythology that goes along with it is a complicated business. I love to read it, but it seems like it would be an awful lot of work to write it.
