I HOPE Raul changes things, but I'm a little cynical, too, because Fidel is still alive. At least he's realized that people can't live on $19 a day.... (Shocker.) I'm proud of our country, but I am not proud of the political corrption and disrespect for human lives and the effects of certain US policies on other countries that some people in power here have. Today when Cubans try to escape, they get pushed back from the shore with fire hoses. And the wall along the Mexican border? Insane! We can only hope. But, as in all the communist countries, the people are so convinced it's the only way to live, they can't adjust to democracy.
