Fashion Friday - Kind of

Sammie my Fashion Friday columist is unfortunately still busy — BUSY PACKING FOR OUR TRIP TO ROME!

So, this is only kind of a Fashion Friday column as I’m going to take you to the home of Fashion Week in New YorkBryant Park.

When I was growing up it used to be called Needle Park because of all the drug dealers and prostitutes that worked the park.

Fashionably Late Fashion Friday

Sam wearing jeans and having some fun with her friends. So I know it sounds completely ridiculous to spend so much money on a pair of jeans…But I DID finally spend more than I have ever spent before!!!!! I must admit that at first I was hesitant, but now I wear them all the time. I wore them in this picture (of course you can’t see them, but they are very nice). Now I am definitely not saying go blow a lot of money on a pair of jeans.

I was just saying I did and they are very nice. I usually buy my pants for $20.00 or less. I found one pair for $9.00 that I wear. Now that is a bargin!

Jeans are an everyday part of life for a teenager like me. I wear them when I go to school, go out with friends, or even to chill at a friend’s house. I love my jeans. And you should too.

Skinny jeans seem to be the fashion craze for those “scene” kids (scene kids are the teens who were their hair black and their eyeliner thick and listen to music about hurting themselves and never being able to love again).

Personally I love the skinny jean. They go well with a pair of UGGs or a nice flat.

Bell bottoms from the 70’s are still hot today. Every girl has them and every girl loves them.

Straight jeans (not skinny, skinny jeans stick you your legs while these just fall to the floor at one angle) are also coming back.

BUT MOM JEANS WILL NEVER BE IN STYLE!!!!!!!

Peace out!!!

What I love most besides shoes, purses & t-shirts!

Sammie and friend doing American Idol at Madame Tussauds in NYCSo this week I have decided to write about what I love most besides shoes, purses, and t-shirts.

I know you are wondering what could possibly be more wonderful. The answer: Jewelry!!!!!

I love to accessorize with a cute pair of earrings and a nice necklace. My favorite bracelet is the Lucky Brand Jeans bracelet. It is basically a strip of leather that says “Live In Love”. How perfect since Valentines Day is coming up. As well as a cute pair of earrings.

My favorite two pairs of the moment are heart shaped. One pair I own has a stick figure boy and girl and they say “I love you.” The other pair is just hearts a smaller pinker heart inside. I love love. I am not in love though. Sadly. *tear tear*. I AM OUT. And like the bracelet says LIVE IN LOVE!!!

Fashionably Late Fashion Friday

Sam and Friends at Madame Toussauds in NYCI just received a Delia’s catalog in the mail and I noticed they are ready for spring. So am I. They have tons of lovely spring dresses. Now floral prints are okay… to a point. Also single colors, pastel yellows, and greens seem to be the most popular. Navy is also a big one.

The theme seems to be the styles of the past. Wide straps, baby doll pattern form. So if you are planning your spring vacation these cute spring dresses are definitely a YAY! in my book.

Fashionably Late Fashion Friday

Fashion FriendsI am sooooo sorry for the tardiness of all of my fashion Fridays. I have been doing a lot and sometimes it skips my mind and then on Fridays I get home too late to type up anything and I just fall asleep. But I promise to be more on top of things next week.

So this week I want to talk about t-shirts.

I love the funny one liners on some shirts. Some obviously are not meant for school or at work but others are just too funny you have to laugh.

There is this slogan on the shirt

And this one:

You can get these and a lot of other funny ones at Cottonfactory.com. The t-shirts are $15.00. That is an amazing price!

If you have t-shirts that maybe don’t fit or you don’t like certain aspects of it, there is a book:  Generation t:  108 ways to transform a t-shirt.

They even create a wedding dress. So I give T-shirts a YAY!!!!

Fashion Fridays will be Fashionably Late

Sammie’s take on purses

Sammie and her friend at Kutztown Fair in PennsylvaniaPurses. I love all purses but the latest craze seems to be ridiculously large purses. I give it a YAY!!!!

They are an amazing accessory which can go with almost everything. Girls in my school use them as book bags, but they also use them while shopping in the city or going out with friends. I know I do. Guess seems to have the cutest. We sell them in Bakers and I want them. Very expensive, so if you are on a budget I suggest going to PAC SUN.

Big purses are also great for those summer beach days. Ahh global worming seems to be doing New Jersey some good. Cute summer purses you can get away with now in the winter. So BIG purses are a yay!

I also love clutches. OMG! Too cute. These are more classy then the big bag. They are used for nights out or a date. The clutch is for special occasions. I am sorry, when I see someone in school carrying a clutch I say to myself, “What are you carrying in there? A tampon?” seriously, think before you walk out the door.

P.S. Sorry for posting so late. I have been super busy with FCCLA. Don’t ask about that.

P.P.S. — Mom is adding her note as relayed to her by another mom — Skinnies are totally in as well. What’s a skinny? It’s a small ID/Wallet Case that’s big enough to hold ID and some cash. Very big for girls headed to college. Sammie says they’re the latest thing for girls who also go to clubs since the skinnies fit right into their jeans. The skinnies are available in a number of stores and Coach had a wide selection of colors and designs.

Fashion Friday - Gloves

Sam and FriendSamantha again, with a new Fashion Friday tip. GLOVES. I love gloves. Hate those ugly guy gloves and those ones that look like they can eat your hands…definitely a nay.

But the latest glove craze are the gloves that you can remove the top layer and they become almost like fingerless driving gloves. From mittens to gloves super cool. Roxy has the cutest in the entire world. Black with rainbow stripes. I want them. Actually I bought them! They are only $16.50. That is a great price for such a high demand item.

Roxy GlovesWorking at Bakers has been awesome. Love it. I don’t complain about working late or going in early. It is a great atmosphere. My managers could not be any nicer. They are the ultimate managers.

And again, if you have any questions have no fear in asking. I don’t judge. Unless you are my mom. Hahaha.

OH and another thing all the pictures will be different. I like to show all the different fun places I go and the cool people I meet. Hahaha

OH again. I got accepted to Philadelphia University, partial Merit scholarship as well. I am so happy. That is where I am choosing to go.

Next week’s fashion tip will be purses… my LOVE.

Fashion Friday First!

Samantha's Name is Fashion! Samantha Scordato here. To give you the latest fashion tips a girl can provide. Before I do go into the yays and nays of fashion I decided to give you a little about me first. I am 17, yes Caridad is my mom and I am in love with writing as much as she is. I have journals beyond journals filled with stories and other ideas. It lets me express myself. But fashion, for some reason, has become my passion.

I have to say Mary-Kate and Ashley were the ladies who inspired it but Betsey Johnson was the woman who kept me going. She is the Fashion Idol of my life, besides this one girl in my school who has the sweetest fashion in the entire world (sweet means cool. Just in case you were wondering). I have recently been accepted to Marymount University in Virginia, and am waiting for a letter from Philadelphia University. If you are wondering “why not FIT?” the reason is simple. If I decide that maybe fashion is not what I see myself doing in the future then I would have no other options at FIT. I am not dissing FIT, far from it. I went there for summer sources and it was the best. I learned a lot of cool things, but I would need to transfer and that would be a whole sticky mess and I didn’t want to go through that. So I am going to a liberal arts college where if fashion is not my passion I can go into something else. Like writing!

Okay so obviously winter is coming up and boots are a big fashion statement for the season. I love boots. Absolutely love ‘em. High boots, low boots, heels, flats. Boots rock.

I work at Bakers, the shoe store, and well I have seen a lot of boots. Grey leather. NAY! Black on the other hand, YAY! I love heels on boots. Sure not the best for shoveling snow, but they look damn good. I have to admit I am not a fan of the flat boots, but some people can wear them and even I have to stop and say “wow. I like those!”

Advice: If you get heels no matter what kind, boot or dressy, BUY NON-SLIPS. Look for a Bakers near you. The non-slips are $2.00 at Bakers. They go on the bottom of a shoe to give the shoe some traction. They save lives I tell you. Haha.

So that is my first fashion tip for all you people out there. If you have any questions about anything, Clothes, shoes, accessories… please leave a comment here! I hope I can help.
