Bryant Park has been transformed again for the winter! They’ve set up the Citibank Ice Skating Pond over the great lawn. Luckily it’s gotten cold enough to freeze whatever the surface is so people can skate.
They also had something going up yesterday and my sis caught the activity on her way home and sent this picture — snowmaking at Bryant Park so they could film a scene for the upcoming Sex and the City movie. How cool is that? Read the rest of this entry
For a number of years, I’ve done workshops on the state of Latino fiction and as I am going to be doing a number of talks on this topic in the coming year, I wanted to update some aspects of the discussion. It occurred to me that it might be good to broaden the fact-finding to include various kinds of multicultural fiction and not just Latino fiction.
Armed with that intent, I’ve developed a survey (click here to access the survey) as a way of allowing you to offer your opinions on the state of multicultural fiction today. As the survey is intended to reflect current publishing trends, I am asking only published authors or those with books that are to be released shortly, to offer their comments on the survey.
As this is my first attempt at a survey of this nature, I also beg your indulgence if it’s lacking in any way.
Here’s a link to the page with the survey: http://www.caridad.com/state-of-multicultural-fiction/
Feel free to share this link with any other authors that you think might be interested in offering their opinion on this topic.
Thanks so much!

This Wicked Wednesday brings something totally new — a work in progress. I’ve been developing an urban fantasy involving a twist to the werewolf mythology, battles with vampires and a struggle for control in a werewolf pack. The tentative title is UNDEAD UPRISING. Read the rest of this entry
It’s almost time for another installment in THE CALLING vampire novels! FATE CALLS is a novella in HOLIDAY WITH A VAMPIRE, a December release for Silhouette Nocturne. I thought I’d leave you with a glimpse of this novella before I take a little break — until October 20th! Read the rest of this entry
This wonderful little video clip was sent to me by one of my editors, who found it to be hilarious and I couldn’t agree more! I was rolling on the floor laughing my ass off (ROFLMAO for those who do not have teenage kids and wondered what that Acronym meant). Read the rest of this entry
Last night I picked up my Golden Apple Award for Author of the Year! It was so exciting and totally spectacular to receive this honor in front of so many friends and industry professionals. My wonderful editors, Stacy Boyd and Jessica Alvarez, were present as was Mavis Allen, another delightful editor from Harlequin. The New York City Romance Writers Chapter did an amazing job with their hospitality and the goodies they had for us to nosh on. Here’s a picture of the award I got, along with a beautiful certificate created by my friend and fellow writer, Patt Mihailoff. Read the rest of this entry
Labor Day Monday. The official end of most summer things in the United States and for many, the day before school starts. It also marks the commencement of the countdown for the launch of the fall television season (Did I ever mention I’m a video junkie?). Read the rest of this entry
There is a woman who claims to have found chupacabras in Texas! The woman, Phylis Canion, and her neighbors apparently discovered the bodies of three chupacabras near her ranch in Cuero, Texas. For the complete story, click here.
Canion kept one of them for DNA testing and took some pictures of the creature who is really butt ugly and looks nothing like the creature of legend that I described in DEVOTION CALLS. Read the rest of this entry
Christmas seems light years away and yet almost here as well. This Christmas, vampires will have some unique experiences with the holiday season in HOLIDAY WITH A VAMPIRE. This is a tough job searching out handsome men for you for our Guilty Pleasures Mondays. Really difficult work. I mean, having to decide which of these men I should feature. LOL.
Well, it seems as if my job just got easier since I ran across some videos which led me to www.allamericanguys.com. Whew and WOW! This is male muscle at its finest. You can even send postcards to your friends (like me!) Read the rest of this entry
Today’s Wicked Wednesday is about the ultimate Scrooge — Hadrian, a two-thousand year old vampire who finds himself with a bell-ringing Santa on the steps of his Manhattan brownstone.
Christmas with a vampire? Well, I was a little surprised as well when my editor called with the idea for this anthology, but the more I thought about it, the more that it fascinated me. I could pit the darkness of the vampire against Santa and all the goodness and light of the Christmas holiday! And as dark and dangerous as Hadrian is, beneath all that was a soul aching to be reached. It was just going to take someone really special. Enter Connie Morales, tough NYC lawyer who has volunteered to play Santa to earn some brownie points with her boss. Read the rest of this entry

My husband and I had been married for nearly a year and had been living with my dad and grandma since my mom had passed. We needed a little time to ourselves and with the weatherman saying the weekend would be great, we decided to take a trip to Mystic, Connecticut. We hadn’t planned on spending the night, but decided to pack a bag just in case. Read the rest of this entry
During my recent trip to Scotland I had an unusually spooky experience. I was traveling with my good friend Meg, her husband Terry and their daughter Hannah who is 15. Hannah was my travel buddy on this trip and we shared a room in two of the three hotel/guest houses along the way. Hannah is a delight, and charged as I was with looking out for her when separated from her parents, I took my job seriously. Read the rest of this entry
