A Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. I hope you have a fabulous day. I want to also wish a Happy Mother’s Day in heaven to my mother and grandmother. I would not be the woman I am today if not for them. My daughter would also not be who she is without them. My mother and grandmother were both strong women who did so much for their families. I owe them everything! It’s going to be a rainy day today but I’ll still be keeping with my Mother’s Day tradition of putting in the flowers and veggies for the season. I’m a little worried about the weather not so much because of the rain since I’ve had to plant in the rain in many a Mother’s Day. It’s more about the chill we’ve been having at night since the weather has been dipping below 50 which is a little unusual for this time of year. Sigh. Hopefully, some cloches over the veggies will keep them safe.
Happy Cinco de Mayo
Happy Cinco de Mato! Although this has become such a big “Mexican” holiday in the U.S., in reality it’s not such a big holiday in Mexico and it’s not Mexican Independence Day. On Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican army beat the French in the city of Puebla and I believe it’s celebrated in that city. Still, let’s celebrate the lovely country of Mexico and its people! While I was working, I had the pleasure of visiting several different Mexican cities and experience their wonderful culture. From Mexico City to Guadalajara and Tequila, I was able to learn a great deal about its history and I also took the time to learn more because it fascinated me. I used what I learned and that experience to write some of my books. In AZTEC GOLD, a paranormal romance, I based the villain on the Aztec gods and also shared a lot about Mexican culture and food as the heroine searches for her missing lover. In THE FIFTH KINGDOM, a romantic suspense, the search is on to find an ancient relic with mystical powers that’s based on the Mexican sun stone, one of the symbols of Mexico. I was lucky to see the sun stone when I visited Mexico City. Both books are available in Kindle Unlimited for free and specially priced! P.S. – Happy Birthday to my fur baby Slate who turns 10 today!
Very Happy Sunday and Orchids
Good morning! Happy Sunday! I’m sharing some photos of the orchids in bloom at my house. It’s so exciting to see them blooming because I never had any luck with them at my old house. But in my new forever home, they’re able to get diffuse sunlight all day long and that’s helped them grow and even bloom. I’m most excited about the one in the upper right corner for a variety of reasons. First, because it took me nearly two years to get it to bloom. Second, because it seems it’s not a very common orchid. Whenever I go to an orchid show, it’s rare for me to see them. Even in Longwood Gardens with its large orchid display, I’ve only seen one or two Maxillaria orchids like mine over the years. If you’ve got flowers you love, please share! I would love to see them! P.S. – if you want to meet a fellow gardener, check out MORE THAN A MISSION, one of my fav books about a chef who grows a lot of the food she cooks up for guests.
Happy Sunday
Boy, it has been a whirlwind the last few days! Travel to Denver and the amazing Readers Take Denver Convention. I hope to share some photos from that later this week after I have a moment to get settled. Today we’re on the way home and I can’t wait to settle into my happy place in my office and get to work on a new book. I want to wish you all a very happy and blessed Sunday! Have a great day!
Happy Sunday
Happy Sunday! We’ve had lots of rain the last few days but it’s supposed to be a beautiful day today. I hope it’s a beautiful, happy, and relaxed day where you are. P.S. – There are only 37 days left until the release of SABOTAGE OPERATION, the first book in the South Beach Security K-9 Division Spinoff! You can find out more at https://www.caridad.com/books/suspense/sabotage-operation/.
Happy Sunday
Wishing you all a Happy Sunday! I hope the day brings you peace and joy and that you’re able to get some rest. I’m hoping to get some chores down and then some gardening even though it’s still a little cold. It’s never too early to get things ready for planting. LOL!
Happy Times at CMC 2024
I had such a lovely time at the 2024 Coastal Magic Convention! There were wonderful panels and social events and I loved meeting so many new people as well as getting together with old friends. I had a chance to take part in several panels and also attend a number of very interesting workshops. On Friday night we had a Murder Mystery party and I volunteered to be one of the actors and it was a blast! CMC volunteers did an amazing job of decorating the ballroom to look like a Las Vegas casino and all the actors dressed up for their roles. I played a butcher who was very upset with one of the other characters because they were dissed by her. Turns out she had annoyed a lot of people and ended up as the murder victim. The next day was lunch with my reader friends and I loved spending time with Franjessca, Alexia, and Patrice! We had a lovely time and it passed way too quickly. The book signing was fabulous and I loved seeing so many people come by to chat and pick up a book. The final event was a pajama party with all kinds of games as well as a planjama event where planner lovers got together to exchange stickers, washi tapes, journals, ideas and suggestions on how to get organized. I scored some lovely washi tape, stickers, and ideas on how to improve my social media calendar! A win win! If you love conferences, I would highly recommend the Coastal Magic Convention!
