Thank you so so much to Night Owl Romance for the review of Aztec Gold. This was such a fun story to research and write! I spent a lot of time exploring ancient Aztec myths and goddesses to create the demon in this sexy paranormal romance. I also loved sharing the intriguing culture of the Aztec people that you see as the heroine is on her search to find her missing (and presumed dead) lover. First Road Trip Stop Florence
We hit our first road trip stop in Florence without any major issues. Minor traffic although we did run into some heavy rains about half-a-dozen times. Despite that, we made good time and got to our hotel in time to unwind for a little bit before heading out for a dinner of delicious Southern food. My friend found Julie Belle’s which wasn’t far from our hotel. The food was delicious! I had some corn fritters with honey butter and we shared a Honey Pecan Chicken Sandwich and Fried Green Tomato BLT. I also had a side order of cheese grits. Delicious!! Today we’re off to Cape Canaveral for tomorrow’s start of the Space Coast Book Lovers Event! Can’t wait!
Family Sticks Together
One of the things I’ve loved about writing the South Beach Security Series is sharing the history of the Gonzalez family and showing how they stick together during difficult times. Trey, Ricky, and Mia have to face danger and battle to save the loves of their lives but they do it with the help of their siblings. It was a challenge to give them each unique stories that would highlight their personal strengths and also find just the right people for them to love. I was very happy with how the stories came out and I hope you’ll take a moment to check them out at https://amzn.to/3CqR9QH. Also, some good news about the K-9 Division series spinoff! The first book in the series, tentatively titled Rescue at Redland Ranch will be out in May 2024! Yeah!
Happily Working on Danger in Dade
I’m currently working on Danger in Dade, #4 in the South Beach Security K-9 Division spinoff. This is a second chance at love story featuring ex-military policeman Brett Madison and chef Anita Reyes (You know I love my chefs!). Anita has witnessed a killing and when her life is threatened, South Beach Security (and Brett) to protect her. This is going to be an action-packed and very romantic story! I can just feel it! While doing research for it, I came across this interesting video with a sketch artist. I hope you like it on this #WriterWednesday.
You can’t edit a blank page
Various people have been credited with the quote about editing a blank page but whether Jodi Picoult or Nora Roberts (or little ol’ me), the single most important thing for a writer is to get something down on the page. It can be hard at times. You’ve lot your muse. You don’t have time. You’re stuck on what to do next in your plot. Just put something on the page. Anything. Thanks to computers, it’s easy enough to edit what you’ve written. But as so many have said, “You can’t edit a blank page.” Happy writing!
Ricky from Brickell Avenue Ambush
One of the fun things about writing a romantic suspense series is changing up the kinds of heroes in the stories. I especially loved Ricky Gonzalez from Brickell Avenue Ambush because he’s the kind of everyman hero that you root for. Ricky doesn’t have any special skills the way a law enforcement or military person might have. He’s actually a psychologist who’s trying to build his practice and only occasionally helps his South Beach Security family on cases. But when he meets Mariela Hernandez, a woman who someone is trying to kill, he’s sucked into a mystery that makes him rise to the occasion and become a real hero. Here is how I pictured Ricky, maybe on a trip to New York? He’s a little on the fashionista side and very laid back.
